We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.The Wholesale Control Organization is a newly formed organization within Wholesale Banking that is responsible for supporting Wholesale lines of business with risk strategy, implementation, and execution to meet regulatory, corporate, and group risk management requirements and expectations. This front-line group interfaces with Independent Risk Management teams (f/k/a second line of defense) and third lines of defense, as well as risk teams supporting each Wholesale business. It has five risk operations groups, a control strategy and implementation unit, and ten business control teams charged with providing consistent implementation of enterprise-risk programs across Wholesale. Through proactive coordination, WCO delivers an integrated risk strategy producing a sustainable control environment and demonstrable culture of strong risk management.Financial Institutions Group (FIG): Financial Institutions Group is one of nine major lines with Wholesale Banking. It is a specialized coverage team responsible for national relationships with financial services providers. Relationships span across a broad range of industries, including Insurance, Securities brokerage, Asset Management, Exchanges, Payment Processing, Financial Technology, Title and Escrow, Consumer and commercial.This open position sits within FIG Risk & Control Operational and Conduct Risk Team focused on supporting the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) within Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB).This position is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring risk-based programs to identify, assess and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. This position will work closely with Business Process Management (BPM) and Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), together known as IPRC. The position will have a strong demonstrated understanding of BPM/RCSA(IPRC) and will be facilitating directly with the business line. The position will also serve as a source for the Regulatory Change Management Policy and related Major Compliance Requirements and Major Policy Requirements, together known as MRs (Major Requirements). The position will work with CIB-FIG Policy and Procedure teams along with the business line and other risk discipline stakeholders including RCSA, BPRM, MR and all related inputs/outputs for effective management risk management. May provide oversight to an operational risk program. Works with the most complex business units and provides operational risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines. May provide systems security consulting on the most complex issues. Designs and develops the most complex testing strategies, methodologies and analyses; evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls, analyzes extremely complex business and/or system changes to determine impact; identifies operational risk issues and may participate in the development of risk ratings. Consults with business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manages change. Identifies training opportunities; designs/coordinates the development of training materials and coordinates or delivers training. Reports findings and develops business cases to influence executive management or management committee member/head of business on the need for controls to mitigate risk. Leads project/virtual teams and mentors lower level staff. May directly manage 1-2 specialists/consultants.Strong facilitation skills and strong risk and controls experience specific to WF operational risk management tools will be determining factors in selection. Successful candidates will also be articulate and possess a demonstrated leadership capability and be able to research and provide recommendations to the business line; they will be impressive in their inter-personal effectiveness and with regard to their accomplishments. It requires a team member with strong relationship management, influencing, combined with confident risk and control skills. A key differentiator will be the ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed corporate environment. The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement.Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

      • Ability to achieve strong stakeholder buy-in and create a strong operational risk culture
      • Ability to facilitate business process identification and documentation and decipher and promote appropriate risk & controls
      • Banking compliance/regulatory knowledge
      • Experience with Operational Risk Management best practices, regulatory requirements, and understanding of the big picture.
      • Knowledge of SHRP/BPM
