How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin
Cities region:
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) works within the Bus
Transportation Operations Administrative department, which is a
subunit of Transportation Operations within Metro Transit. The BSA
will be responsible for the proper administration, maintenance, and
execution of all technological, reporting, and analysis processes
utilized by the department to meet its responsibilities and
mandates with respect to financial reporting, security, and
stewardship.
The BSA role is dually responsible for the lifecycle of all
departmental technology (Informational and Operational) and
ensuring its ongoing applicability, adoption, and performance
within the Bus Transportation operations of Metro Transit. In these
capacities, the BSA will function as both a technical leader,
trainer, and liaison to others as well as a primary source of
business process expertise and work product (analyses and project
leadership) as derived from departmental technologies and knowledge
of various data sources.
The range of BSA responsibilities and tasks include (but are not
limited to): administration of HASTUS and iDash applications,
database administration; server administration; software
installations, patching, and upgrades; device/hardware support
(e.g., computers and mobile devices); first responder for systems
troubleshooting and service inquiries; closed loop management of
large-scale Operational Technology (automated material handling and
storage systems); data mining, transformation, and warehousing;
programming/coding and scripting; application development; root
cause and statistical analysis; financial reporting and auditing;
inventory optimization; business process (re)design and
documentation; business and use case development; lifecycle
management (including divestiture); vendor management; contract
management; technology sourcing; training and development; and
project management. The BSA will occasionally support secondary Bus
Ops applications such as TIS, DSL, and Dataserv; among others.
This posting will create a six-month eligible list for current and
future openings.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Business Systems Analyst 3:
The BSA 3 position is inclusive of all the job duties above but
also engenders a broader understanding of business systems
available and employed, a greater degree of independent judgment
exercised, further autonomy and responsibility to perform more
complex modifications and configurations within the business
systems, and independent extensions and transformations of systems'
data and capabilities that facilitate decision-making and improve
business processes. BSA 3 incumbents have a significant role in
system and platform selection, analysis, problem identification,
and recommendation/presentation of solutions and enhancements to
upper management. BSA 3 positions lead organization-wide teams on
system implementation projects and serve as a champion for business
process improvements.
What education and experience are required for this job (minimum
qualifications)
Business Systems Analyst 2, Non-Rep, Grade G:
Any of the following combinations of progressively responsible
experience in management analysis and business systems
administration, or related experience in a Business Analyst
capacity and closely related experience AND completed education in
Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Finance,
Business Administration, or closely related field.
Business Systems Analyst 3, Non-Rep, Grade H:
Any of the following combinations of progressively responsible
experience in management analysis and business systems
administration, or related experience in a Business Analyst
capacity or closely related experience AND completed education in
Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Finance,
Business Administration, or closely related field. A minimum of one
(1) year of experience must include performing configurations and
modifications within specific business systems, or extracting,
transforming, and deploying system data to support operational
decision-making and drive business process improvements.
High school diploma/GED with eight (8) years of
experienceAssociate's degree with six (6) years of
experiencesBachelor's degree or higher with four (4) years of
experienceMaster's degree with two (2) years of experience

Work Environment
Work is performed in a standard office setting. Some positions may
require travel between primary work site to other sites.
