SUMMARY *Responsible for assisting doctors with care and treatment
of patients including pharmacy tasks, assistance with surgical
procedures, and training other staff to utilize our patient care
protocols.*WORKING RELATIONSHIPS* Works most closely with
Veterinarians and veterinary assistants, and also other staff as
needed.*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS ** Handle and track controlled
substances for surgical patients in a manner compliant with clinic
and legal safety protocols.* Manage pharmacy tasks including
accurately filling prescriptions, creating medication labels,
dispensing medications to owners and reviewing instructions to
ensure safe and accurate usage of the medications, assisting owners
with medicating their animals when needed, and double
checking/overseeing other staff in the preparation of prescriptions
according to safety protocols.* Efficiently and safely manage
sedated procedures, including placing IV catheters, drawing up and
administering pre-medication, monitoring vitals manually or via
machine monitors, setting up and managing IV fluid pumps, and
recovering patients.* Accurately monitor general anesthesia, with a
clear understanding of abnormal and normal values.* Perform
surgical assisting for general anesthetic procedures as needed.
Includes all tasks as listed for sedation management and anesthesia
monitoring, plus patient prep (clipping, scrubbing, placement) and
use of proper aseptic technique.* Perform patient care.* Performing
laboratory testing in the clinic and preparing samples for
laboratory send out testing.* Performing radiographs, and
participating in radiation safety training and requirements.*
Communicating professionally and knowledgeably with clients as
necessary for phone calls, intaking patients for wellness and sick
exams, management of technician exams, answering questions,
educating clients on test findings or medical instructions as
directed by a veterinarian, and discharge of surgery patients.*
Manages safety tasks such as participating in safety council
meetings, taking leadership roles in management of radiation safety
training, or other safety tasks as needed.* Able to respond
appropriately during an emergency, including taking directions from
a veterinarian. Possesses self initiative and knowledge to start
resuscitation if immediate guidance is not available, and maintains
competency in CPR procedures. Examples may include calculating and
administering medications quickly and accurately, rapid placement
of an IV catheter, assisting a DVM or CVT with intubation, manually
ventilating the patient, applying and reading monitoring devices,
relaying communications to owners, and assisting in the performance
of CPR.* Follow all written and verbally communicated standard
operating procedures relevant to specified job duties.* Complete
training as needed to perform all above listed tasks, including
attending any yearly safety training, harassment training, or other
staff meetings.* Supervise and train technician assistants as
needed to utilize our patient care and cleaning protocols.*Hours:*
4 day work week, open M-F, no weekends!*Pay:* Start at $24+/hr-
