Duty First Consulting (DFC) is seeking a communications consultant to serve as a member of a contract team. This position will support internal communications creation and delivery. This position entails developing strategic communication solutions in support of a large-scale transformation initiative.
What the role requires:
The candidate would have a variety of responsibilities, which include developing and delivering client products, such as communications documentation, artifacts, analysis, and recommendations.
Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:


  • Work with clients to draft written materials, prepare presentations and briefings
  • Develop internal communications
  • Prepare reports for leadership that provide updates on the transformation effort
  • Establish and manage relationships in order to advise and support clients in determining the best communications and change management strategies and approaches to achieve short- and long-term goals
  • Leverage superior writing abilities, attention to detail, research skills and solid oral communication skills to develop and finalize accurate, quality deliverables in a timely manner
  • Support meeting preparation and documentation
  • Support website updates and edits
  • Ensure flawless project execution

    What you need to be successful:

    • 4+ years of communications experience
    • Department of Veterans Affairs experience preferred but not required
    • Federal consulting experience is preferred
    • Experience working on large projects
    • Experience creating project documentation and client deliverables
    • Experience with social media and website development
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
    • Excellent experience with MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Outlook; familiarity with MS Excel, MS Project, MS Visio, and SharePoint 2010, TeamSite, GovDelivery
    • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the US as sponsorship is not available for this position

      Required Education/Certificates
      Bachelor's degree required preferably in communications or related field
      Other important information:

      • Ability to obtain a US government security clearance, if needed, is required.

      • Preference will be given to qualified Veteran candidates.
