Education - High School Diploma or GED Skills - Microsoft Word - Clerical Experience - Heavy Lifting - Communication Skills - Data Entry Benefits - Health Insurance The Clerk of the Appellate Courts seeks a highly-motivated candidate to fill a Records Clerk II position in the Office of the Clerk of the Appellate Courts at the Minnesota Judicial Center in St. Paul. The Clerk's Office is responsible for docketing, processing and routing all appeals filed with the Minnesota Supreme Court, Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Commitment Appeal Panels (CAP). The work of the Clerk's Office is time-sensitive and requires the accurate analysis and entry of data. The office averages over 3,000 appeals per year. Clerk's Office personnel are guided in their work by court rules, state statutes and internal court policies. This position will support the daily operations of the Clerk's Office and is primarily responsible for a variety of entry-level case processing and clerical functions. The position requires excellent communication, sound independent judgment and problem-solving skills; keen attention to detail as well as other knowledge, skills and abilities listed below. This full-time position is classified as a Records Clerk II and will work normal business hours, Monday-Friday. This work will be conducted in an office setting at the Minnesota Judicial Center, in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Minnesota Judicial Branch offers a comprehensive benefits package. Example of Duties The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform: Scan and upload district court exhibits (crime scene photos, autopsy photos, 911 calls, body camera and dash camera videos) into the appellate courts' electronic record repository (C-Track). Open and distribute daily mail. Docket daily eAppeal report of district court records transmitted to the appellate courts. Image court documents; review scanned documents for proper document type and security classifications and ensure all pages are complete and legible. Process applications for appellate e-filing user identifications and passwords. Monitor e-notification deliveries and follow-up on e-mail delivery 'bounce-backs;' process mail returned by the US Postal Service; contact case participants to obtain updated contact information; update and maintain accurate participant records in the appellate case management. Typical Qualifications Any combination of education, training, and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below will be considered. An example of an acceptable qualification is: Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED. 1-3 years of general office/clerical experience. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and files appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules, policies and statutes. This includes the ability to handle explicit and graphic evidence such as crime scene or autopsy photographs. Effective and respectful communication skills. Extremely proficient in data entry and proofreading; strong attention to detail and accuracy. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of general office practices, court procedures and policies. Ability to read and comprehend rules, statutes and legal documents of varying types and complexity. Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and departmental policies or procedures. Ability to take direction well and maintain a professional and positive attitude through challenging circumstances. Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and meet weekly performance goals. Must be a team player that s learned lessons, methods and issue resolutions that will help others excel at the same work. Knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic. Proficiency in operating a copier, scanner and personal computer. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Demonstrated dependability and reliable attendance. Ability and willingness to work in a high-volume, detailed and fast-paced work environment. Demonstrated ability to be team-oriented and work cooperatively with others while maintaining a positive attitude. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents of varying types and complexity for completeness, adequacy, accuracy and compliance with rules. Analytical thinker with strong independent judgment and problem solving skills. Ability to learn, adapt and utilize new technology; including but not limited to e-Filing, eSignature and electronic document management. Ability to respect and follow business policies and procedures, work tracking, project progress tracking. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to lift 30 lbs. (file boxes). Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with electronic records management systems. Previous experience working in a district court, quasi-judicial agency, criminal justice or legal environment or as a police records or evidence technician.
