The Workers' Compensation Specialist will work closely with employees that have experienced a work-related injury to help them navigate the process of receiving the medical care they need along with a timely return to work. As an advocate for an employee with a work-related injury, the Workers' Compensation Specialist will have extensive day-to-day contact with the employee, medical providers, supervisors, and insurance adjusters. Along with strong customer care, this role will also have focus on analytics and training.The DetailsAnalytics/AdministrationProvides trending and analytical data to operations through regular communication and scheduled reportingConfirm basic information provided on the First Report of Injury and ensure accuracySet target date for action items with the injured employee and internally in the workers' compensation database systemDiary files for a minimum of weekly contact with the injured employee.Call claims into the Third-Party Administrator (TPA) based on reporting criteriaWork with Claims Adjuster and the Work Site Employer to devise strategies for Claim Closure or Return to Work OptionsManage Back-to-Work program, partnering with Human Resources and LegalProvide regular updates on the status of the injured worker to upper managementMaintain and accurately manage our data and claims management software systemCreate and assist with interpreting analytics reports as needed Customer CareConfirm basic information provided on the First Report of Injury and ensure accuracyFor potential lost time claims, make contact with the injured employee within 24 hours of injuryAct as first contact to the injured employee; explain the role of the Claims Ambassador in the Injured Worker's claim and the recovery process. Emphasize Return to Work.If possible, direct employee to designated medical providerStay in constant contact with the injured employees through phone, fax, email, get-well-cards, casual notes, etcCollaborate and communicate with the medical provider on a regular basis, working towards establishing medical restrictions and return to work opportunities for the injured employee TrainingSupports training program development and delivery tools for operationsDevelop and provide training in-person and virtually to human resources and operations management/leadership on injury reporting, role in reporting, and information regarding Work Partners relationshipWhat You'll Need To Succeed2-3 years' experience in risk management and/or safetyHigh School diploma or general education degree (GED)High level of commitment/ownership to one's work productExceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsCommitment to self-accountability, collaboration, and teamworkCommitment to service excellenceAbility to be multi-focused, managing a number of workers' comp cases along with additional projectsStrong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, documentation, research and resolution and data analysisExcellent phone/communication skills.
