OVERVIEW Sentry Insurance, a Mutual Company, is excited to share
this Senior Property Loss Control Specialist opportunity. This
position will be a technical leader within our safety and loss
control department, focused on enhancing our existing property risk
assessment program and determining emerging risks within our
The ideal candidate with have experience conducting comprehensive
loss control property assessments for an array of market types
including light/heavy manufacturing, warehousing, dealership,
plastics processing, and others. Advanced knowledge of building
maintenance & electrical systems, property protection & special
hazards, NFPA requirements, and proficiency developing evaluation
and risk scoring tools is preferred. In addition, the successful
candidate will develop close relationships with large premium
customers and our corporate underwriting products team.

consulting on property risk management practices and can oversee

WHAT YOU'LL DO --- Review our current property risk evaluation
process and implement recommended improvements. Develop technical
resources for Underwriting and Loss Control departments, along with
training of our field consultants on related topics.
--- Conduct property assessments of selected high value or high
risk insured properties. Identify and communicate risk improvement
solutions with the insured and to Underwriting through a detailed
loss control report.
--- Participate in customer loss prevention seminars as requested,
covering related subjects of electrical system maintenance, hazard
identification, and regulatory compliance standards including OSHA
--- Complete selected property claim reviews for our department,
reviewing prior service history, safety recommendation compliance,
and internal report quality reviews to determine future
--- Actively research emerging technology & insurance industry loss
trends as it relates to property loss & electrical systems.
--- Develop customer resources relating to property loss prevention
focused around electrical and commercial fire loss causes.
WHAT IT TAKES --- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering,
fire science, or related discipline
--- At least 5 years of related work experience, preferably as a
property risk engineer or property claims adjuster
--- Understanding of various manufacturing processes and associated
special property hazards and controls
--- Experience evaluating maintenance practices for various
commercial building systems including electrical, roofing, and
property protection. Certified thermographer a plus
--- Excellent technical writing skills to draft evaluation
standards, field assessment reports, and large loss reviews
--- Professional certification or desire to obtain in one or more
of the following areas: CFPS, CSP, PE, or SMT
--- Ability to relocate to our corporate office is preferred but
would consider remote position for an exceptional candidate
--- Acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to meet the travel
requirements of the position.
