Position Summary
The Transport Respiratory Therapist performs specific respiratory
care duties along with other responsibilities under the supervision
of the medical director. The Transport Respiratory Therapist must
be able to adapt to the particular area of duty assignment and must
be able to perform special duties required by the assignment. The
Transport Respiratory Therapist performs all respiratory care and
transport procedures in accordance with established policies and
procedures
The Transport Respiratory Therapist must have advanced knowledge of
cardiopulmonary physiology and other sciences related to
respiratory care and be able to demonstrate these to others. A
thorough understanding of the drugs used in respiratory care
procedures and any transport related medication is required. The
Respiratory Therapist must exhibit mature judgment, honesty,
integrity and a high sense of responsibility. Work must be
performed with a high degree of accuracy and particular attention
to detail. The Respiratory Therapist must be able to use tact and
judgment when dealing with physicians, nurses, other hospital
employees, patients and their families. The verbal ability to
explain various procedures being performed or demonstrated to other
employees, patients and their families is essential. This position
will have the responsibility to provide quality patient care in
both pre-hospital and hospital environments. Provide assessment and
skill in all aspects of patient care during the transport realm.
All cares and duties will be provided under the supervision of the
medical director. The Transport Respiratory Therapist will be
required to provide their services with a wide scope while in
transport mode and under a more specific scope while providing
in-hospital care, which includes intensive care units, medical and
surgical floors, and emergency departments. The Transport
Respiratory Therapist must have a solid knowledge of
cardiopulmonary physiology and a good knowledge of other systems.
The therapist must be able to function on a small team while in a
transport environment, be able to help identify, plan, implement,
and evaluate the stabilization and emergency care of acutely ill
neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in collaboration with
their team and the MCP
*Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
*Licensed with the State of Minnesota as a Respiratory
Therapist.
*Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by The National Board of
Respiratory Care (NBRC). Successful completion of the Registered
Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
*Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialty (NPS)
certification.
*Basic Life Support (BLS) certified and current.
*PALS, NRP, ACLS and STABLE certified, or within 6 months in the
role.
*C-NPT, PHTLS, CPEN, TNCC, or other approved advanced certification
within 2 years in the role.
*3 years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Emergency Department
experience, Neonatal or Pediatric is preferred.
*Outside Transport or Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience
is preferred.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for

Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be
eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
