SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is a blended position. This role serves as a
business partner to property and corporate staff, assisting with
all financial matters related to property management. The Staff
Accountant processes bi- weekly payroll as well as coordinates
accounting activities and processes for the organization under the
direction of the Controller.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Accounting
- Reconcile and analyze communities' general ledgers for
accuracy
- Review and analyze communities' month-end reports ensuring
compliance with Bigos Management policies and procedures
- Prepare financial reporting - monthly, quarterly, and annually
for both internal and external statement users
- Facilitate statement users' understanding and accurate
interpretation of financial results
- Assist with year-end processes including audit, compilation,
and tax services provided by public accountants
- Maintain strong financial controls
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements,
enforce adherence to requirements and advise management regarding
necessary actions
- Maintain confidence and protect operations by keeping financial
information confidential
- Communicate with colleagues, communities, and business partners
in a courteous and professional manner Payroll
- Perform all activities necessary to process payroll in a timely
and accurate manner, including but not limited to maintaining
related records, voluntary deduction reports, processing
involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal wage and
hour laws
- Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare clear and
accurate reports for auditing and operational use
- Prepare yearly reports such as W2s Accounts Payable
- Process and audit a high volume of invoices for assigned
properties ensuring accurate approval and coding
- Print/distribute vendor checks
- Field vendor inquiries regarding payments
- Consistently provide excellent customer service to internal and
external customers
- Provide financial support to Owner including payment of
invoices
- Proof and process checks for Resident Security Deposit
Returns
- Prepare annual 1099s
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree with major coursework in Accounting or a
related field, 2 years of financial accounting experience, or an
equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to
successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Experience in the multi-unit real estate industry and
experience preferred
- Understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws
- Computer equipment and software knowledge
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel
skills
- Yardi Voyager software experience preferred
- Experience in ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred SKILLS AND
ABILITIES:
- Fluent in English and skilled in oral and written
communication
- Ability to use tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous manner
when dealing with co-workers and the public
- Excellent decision-making, problem solving, and time management
skills
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks
simultaneously with self- direction
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Able to maintain confidentiality PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to
use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to
maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; strength to
lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read
printed material and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to
communicate in-person and over the telephone.
