Overview:M Health Fairview is seeking a Biomedical Electronics
Technician to join our team! Under relatively close supervision of
the Manager and other more senior technicians, inspect, repair,
maintain, and calibrate all types of basic clinical equipment,
devices, system, and instruments. Interact on a routine basis with
other clinical health providers in the identification of
technology-based problems and solution development. Participate in
on-the-job training programs regarding technical, administrative,
and customer service requirements. The Biomed Electronics
Technician will work toward status of a Sr. BMET by attaining
ability to independently complete all assigned tasks and acquire
competency on a broader range of more sophisticated clinical
devices and systems.Responsibilities/Job Description:
Communicates timely and accurately
with customers on work completed, equip. status (waiting for parts,
loaner coming in, etc) and potential alternatives for
emergencies.Completes repairs within 24 hours (when parts are
available) or 5 days (if parts are ordered).Follows through on
projects to meet set deadlines.Demonstrates ability to provide care
or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and
cultural differences of population served.Maintains good personal
relationships with fellow workers, nursing, professional, clinical,
and medical staff, and general public.Communicates updates and
status of issues with Manager.Practice courtesy and professionalism
in all phone and interpersonal conversations
Responds to emergency equipment
failures as requested by hospital departmentsAssists with
after-hours on-call duty.Identifies and documents parts/supplies
necessary to maintain equipmentExpedites shipment of equipment &
parts to/from hospital for repair/replacement to ensure equipment
downtime is kept to a reasonable minimumPerforms troubleshooting &
repair on equipmentPerforms scheduled maintenance (Safety,
Performance, etc.) prior to installation and in accordance to
established schedules & appropriate protocolsPerforms incoming
inspections, attach and assign control numbers and labels, and
acquires the necessary information for accurate database inventory
entries.Coordinates/monitors work performed by outside contractors
& tracks progressProvides impromptu in-services to equipment users
as requested. Presents information in an educational &
understandable mannerPerforms/contributes to special projects as
assigned in a timely manner & keeps all parties informed as to
progressCreates and maintains a safe, clean and organized
workplace.
Identifies and participates with
training of staff when operator errors are noted.Use proper
Personal Protective Equipment as requiredImmediately reports any
unsafe condition and repairs if possible.Uses proper infection
control precautions when necessaryKnows how to and when to use I
Care.Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of SMDA.Maintains
test equipment and keeps work areas cleanConducts safety practices
and universal precautions in all work and assigned tasksActs as
Role Model in Performing duties
Maintains professional appearance and
demeanor commensurate with company and hospital standards,
policies, and procedures.
Consistently meets all departmental
and organizational performance indicator standards.Performs all
tasks in strict adherence to the departmental Medical Equipment
Management Plan (MEMP).Maintains accurate and thorough
documentation and record keeping in a timely manner.Opens and
closes work orders accurately and within required time.Consistently
reports to work and all scheduled appointments on time.Follows

assignmentsRecognizes work that needs to be done, works with
Manager to reach resolutionDemonstrates an ability to prioritize

Uses supplies and equipment cost

budgetary objectivesQualifications:Minimum Education
2 year Associates Degree in
Electronics Technology or equivalent experiencePreferred Education
2 year Associates Degree in
Biomedical Equipment TechnologyMinimum Experience
6 months experience in electronic,
mechanical, or electro-mechanical repair in either a school or
on-the-job setting. (Actual classroom time may count toward this
requirement.) Preferred Experience
Associates degree in Biomedical
Equipment Maintenance with supervised internshipMilitary experience
within specialty associated with biomedical equipment
repair.Supervised internship or creditable experience in the
maintenance and repair of clinical equipment.
