Job Description:
Are you passionate about research? We are looking for a Microbiologist II to carry out studies on protein expression in microorganisms.
You will transform and produce cultures of microorganisms to identify strain expressing proteins.
You will characterize the protein production levels in small scale assays (microtiter plates and shake flasks) and/or conduct protein analytical research.
As a member of a team or working on an individual assignment, you will lead projects or portions of projects and document results for review by management. You will perform technical assignments and develop innovative ways for achieving specific objectives within the framework of a project.
Research and examine physiological, morphological, and other additional characteristics to identify and classify microorganisms.
Observe living or dead microorganisms matter and studies the relationships between organisms and protein expression or other correlations.
Participate in the preparation of technical proposals, amendments, reports and terminations.
Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of experimental tasks in a Molecular Biology Research setting.
Duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Perform general molecular biology tasks including but not limited to DNA/RNA extraction, modification, PCR, transformation, clone selection and propagation.
Perform recombinant protein expression using bacterial and yeast expression systems.
Complete protein quantification protocols
Identify conditions for protein purification at bench scale
Troubleshoot lab equipment and protocols associated with the experimental workflows
Maintain records of experimental results and archives of data
Maintain a neat and clean environment
Follow laboratories policies and safety procedures

Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications*Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Two years of related work experience.
Proven working knowledge of microbiology concepts, theories and techniques

Ability to handle multiple priorities with large projects extending over a period of time

Education:
Bachelor or Master s Degree Molecular Biology or Biochemistry
