General Summary:

Responsible for managing seasonal sanitation staff and giving direction on proper cleaning techniques, ensuring chemical concentrations are in specification daily. Will perform root-cause analysis investigations to identify and correct deficiencies in sanitation processes. Will assist in managing sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), sanitation monitoring and verification activities and their appropriate policies, procedures and documentation.

Principles and Responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations of the sanitation department.
Understand the sanitation program, and continually improve the overall performance of the sanitation process.
Comply with, understand, and enforce all company policies and standards.
Monitor and direct employees to ensure facility meets or exceeds all GMP requirements.
Develop work schedules, measure performance, and monitor historical trends.
Maintain all pertinent records, reports and other paperwork as needed for regulatory and audit purposes.
Manage and train seasonal sanitation staff on cleaning techniques and the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Ensure sanitation concentrations are in specification daily prior to production.
Order necessary chemicals and sanitation supplies as needed.
Assists in managing sanitation SOP's, perform periodic sanitation pre-operational inspections, and ATP sanitation verification.
Assist in managing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) compliance and documentation updating.
Should have or be willing to receive Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Safe Quality Foods (SQF) and Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) training to be able to assist in record review.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Basic mechanical ability -maintain production equipment when not managing sanitation crew.
Involved in safety programs and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Knowledge:

High school diploma or GED required, secondary education preferred.
Understanding of HACCP concepts and principles.
Knowledge of quality, OSHA and food safety regulations in a manufacturing setting.
Good computer skills. Efficient at navigating through Microsoft Word and Excel

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions and procedures in the English language.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Good observation and troubleshooting skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers.
Visual ability to monitor, identify and detect equipment problems.
Frequent lifting, kneeling and bending with items up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level is high in vegetable crop production.
Frozen food manufacturing plant
The environment may be wet or dry and temperatures may range from -10 to 110F.
Frequent exposure to hazardous material and waste.
Frequent lifting
Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
Adhere to current good manufacturing practice requirements.
Ability to work various hours.
Flexible and ready to accept changes as needed to complete the job and meet changing expectations.
Perform other duties assigned by QA manager or General Manager to ensure safe quality food is produced.
