Position Summary: Thousands of children need extra help to complete math at grade level. Take action as a tutor because students who have strong foundational math skills are better prepared for success in the classroom, community and workplace. As a Math Tutor, you---ll be placed at a local school where you---ll help students in elementary or middle school to improve their core math skills and gain confidence. Every day, you---ll meet with students in small groups to provide extra practice and build skills. With great training and on-site coaching, we---ll prepare you to help kids succeed. Students make the most progress when you are there, so our tutors serve during school hours and are needed for the entire school year. We are currently recruiting tutors for the 2022-23 school year, with the option of beginning in August, October or January. This is an AmeriCorps member position with Math Corps and you---ll be joining a team of 300 tutors nationwide. Together we---re on a mission to multiply a student---s future opportunities through math What to Expect: Use proven strategies to help students build their skills and confidence. Collaborate with coaches to monitor student progress and see what---s working. Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data management software. Commit to continuous improvement through coaching, training and professional development. Represent Math Corps at school-sponsored activities and share your experience with the wider community to help build awareness. Perks Package: Give your time as a tutor and receive a scalable perks package based on your time commitment of 35, 25, or 18 hours per week. 35 hours/week perks: A stipend of $900 paid every 2 weeks $18,900 total for 1200 hours of service starting in August 2022 $15,300 total for 900 hours of service starting in October 2022 $9,900 total for 675 hours of service starting in January 2023 Up to $4,546 for tuition or student loans Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment Individual health insurance --- Monthly premium 100% covered Child care assistance --- Based on family size and income 25 hours/week perks: A stipend of $650 paid every 2 weeks $13,650 total for 900 hours of service starting in August 2022 $11,050 total for 675 hours of service starting in October 2022 $7,150 total for 450 hours of service starting in January 2023 Up to $3,247 for tuition or student loans Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment 18 hours/week perks: A stipend of $450 paid every 2 weeks $9,450 total for 675 hours of service starting in August 2022 $7,650 total for 450 hours of service starting in October 2022 $4,950 total for 300 hours of service starting in January 2023 Up to $2,474 for tuition or student loans Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55 may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child or stepchild. What it Takes: Math Corps takes ordinary people and trains them to be great tutors. Anyone can become a tutor as long as they have a passion to take action for kids --- and meet the following minimum qualifications.
