The Configuration Management Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for technical design, architecture, development, enhancements, and support for configuration management capabilities. The Senior Systems Engineer will server equally in an advisory and development capacity, both helping to identify solutions and improvements as well as performing the day-to-day delivery and code deployment work for configuration management.
Define strategy and principles for AWS tagging capabilities, related enforcement, and reporting
Develop, implement, test, maintain, and support configuration management related products such as SCPs, tag policies and reporting measures
Maintain documentation related to configuration management practices
Champion configuration management policies and processes
Understand and articulate how configuration data is used across the organization and the implications of changes
Lead conversations and workshops with other teams to ensure that configuration management practices are understood and followed
Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, working independently and overcoming roadblocks and obstacles
Identify and implement service improvement opportunities including any related development work
Research and propose solutions, develop proof of concepts, and develop solutions
Perform day-to-day deployment and configuration activities
Collect and report on metrics
Identify, report, and remediate non-compliance situations
Perform configuration management audits as directed
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
5+ years of software development experience
2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems
2+ years of hands-on experience working with AWS architecture and application development
Deep understanding of AWS such as IAM, VPCs, Landing Zones, Control Tower, AVM (Account Vending Machine), EC2, EBS, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, S3, RDS, Route53, Lambda, AWS Config, etc.
Fluency with one or more scripting/coding languages such as Java, JavaScript, REST, JSON, Python, or bash
Solutions oriented mindset, using rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, probing all sources for answers
Capable of system level thinking
Able to effectively navigate complex problems, listen to different perspectives, and come to a decision
Have excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Self-learner with the ability to pick up new technologies, provide tangible results, and share your knowledge with the broader team
Motivated self-starter that can drive tasks with minimal direction
Ability to work in a fast-paced technology environment, interacting with product owners, business analysts, software engineers/developers, and testers
Embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles
High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency
