Regulatory Affairs Principal - Group, Individual & Family

Summary

We are seeking a Regulatory Affairs Principal to join our growing team. In this position, you will play a key role in developing the filings for fully insured, individual and group business. You will review and analyze the benefit plans and requirements; while partnering with Plan Design, Clinical, Sales and Operations subject matter experts to ensure adoption, use and compliance. The Regulatory Affairs principal will partner with legal, compliance, and our filing partners to support state filings, respond to objections, and maintain ongoing evolution of Bind products.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our filing partners to prepare and submit insurance binder filings to state insurance department as well as filings of Qualified Health Plan Applications for Exchange participation to state insurance departments and CMS in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Coordinate with Legal and Compliance to research, document and report on regulatory changes impacting our fully insured group and individual market offerings
  • Provide support in response to regulators and internal business teams to appropriately address objections and inquiries
  • Prepare and provide support in the development of product forms (i.e., EOC, COC, SBN), form filings, and response to regulators for individual and group filings
  • Coordinate information and templates needed to support submission of RBIS filing to CMS via HIOS for specific states. Support additional filings as needed to support product filings (e.g., ID card, EOB, etc.) related to IEX and group plans
  • Provide relevant status updates to business
  • Facilitate response to regulators for individual and group filings in a timely manner
  • Provide research, tracking and other ad hoc tasks needed to support timely internal and external feedback and responses
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the fully insured, group, and individual filing requirements
  • Ensure adherence to state and federal compliance requirements within the filed forms and materials
  • Partner w/ cross functional teams such as Sales, Marketing, Contracts & Benefits, and Operations to design language supporting product offerings across member-facing product materials and regulated documents including, but not limited to: COCs, EOCs, SBCs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working in health care, managed care and/or health insurance
  • 4+ years of State Filings and federal exchange filing experience with SERFF and HIOS
  • 2+ years of plan design experience focused on the design, implementation, and maintenance of fully insured, individual, and group products
  • Ability to interpret state and federal mandates applicable to benefits, mental health parity, essential health benefits (EHB), coverage, and required product attributes
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to influence without direct control
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Clear, concise, engaging, and effective written and oral communication
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
