Nexen Group, Inc. is currently seeking key individuals to be CNC Machinists at its Webster, Wisconsin Manufacturing Facility. This is an organization with a very skilled workforce, a can-do culture, and an excellent reputation. In 1999, Hutch Schilling acquired the industrial products business, and the headquarters moved from Minneapolis to Vadnais Heights and was renamed Nexen Group, Inc.

THE POSITION
The manufacturing facility has over 80 CNC Machines. It was among the first in the region to have a Mori-Seiki NT Mill/Turn machine. This 11 axis machine has two spindles, a lower turret, a full machining head (with Capto Tooling) and a 100 tool magazine. Two additional Mori Seiki NTs were added in December 2013 at an installed cost of about $1M each. For high precision machining, Nexen uses a Yasda Jig Borer with accuracy to within 40 millionths of an inch, and can inspect to within 5 millionths of an inch.
Nexen was a leader in the area to implement just in time, work cells, focused factories, CIM, ISO, etc. Most of the shop floor employees are technical college graduates, and demonstrate a high level of skill and professionalism. The plant has an excellent relationship with the community and the schools.
The plant is responsible for over 6,000 different products, 25,000 different component parts and maintains over 95% on time delivery. Every employee is an important member of the team that ensures that customers get great products when they need them.
A new person has a lot to learn when they come on board, so Nexen brings them along at a measured pace. They are assigned a sponsor ("big brother") to guide and train them, and answer questions. There is significant training on how to use the business software, quality, safety, inspection, etc. Machining assignments start with fairly easy parts, on previously set up machines. Over time, the new employee will be exposed to different machines, work areas and processes.
The right candidate for this position will quickly find themselves amazed by the sophistication of the processes and systems, and will want to develop their own proficiency. This person will have it in their genes to learn how to operate different equipment, and find better ways to machine. They go beyond just doing what's in front of them, but will seek to make improvements year over year (month over month!).
This individual must be reliable, have a positive attitude, sound machining underpinnings, and be able to "play nice in the sandbox" (have excellent interpersonal skills). QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a one or two year technical college degree in Machining. Requires excellent technical, interpersonal and communication skills.
THE LOCATION
This truly is a "Jewel in the North". Northwest Wisconsin is where people come to vacation and play. Burnett County has 508 lakes and 54 rivers and streams. Washburn County has 963 lakes and 56 rivers and streams. There is an abundance of parks, public land, biking, skiing, snowmobile and ATV trails. The boating, canoeing, hunting and fishing is great, and outdoor recreational opportunities abound.
Even though seeing deer, eagles and gorgeous sunsets are commonplace, one will never tire of it. Few people have the opportunity to work where others come to vacation.
