Corporate Support Office -Minneapolis

Leads a potentially remote team of approximately 17 in all
aspects of property accounting, including overhead and capital
projects. Collaborates with and provides support to Operations in
developing, implementing, and maintaining standard operating
procedures and best practices that ensure consistency in results
and improve profitability. Creates an environment that promotes
strong partnerships between Property Accountants and Community
Leaders. Works closely with the CFO, CAO, Corporate Controller,
COO, SVP of Operations, SVP of Asset Management, and Director of
Maintenance, Capital Projects, and Risk Management. Initial 6-9
months will be focused on a major system implementation.
Strong accounting and analytical skills. Communicates and
collaborates effectively cross functionally at all levels of the
organization. Builds, manages, and develops high performance teams.
Customer-focused with a track record of process improvement. Strong
written and oral communication skills, including the ability to
tell a story with data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Manages all property accounting in compliance with GAAP
standards and SEC requirements
Drafts and deploys property accounting policies and procedures,
driving consistency in application
Coordinates accounting processes with the Corporate Controller,
including the compilation of all property accounting and financial
data required to produce internal and external reporting
Prepares or oversees monthly, quarterly, and YTD variance
analysis to ensure accuracy of financial results, identifies market
trends, and identifies opportunities to improve financial
Maintains system of internal controls for the property
Manages property budgeting & forecasting
Oversees monthly reporting to Operations and other internal
users and coordinates ad hoc report requests
Supports Operations, Asset Management, Maintenance and Capital
Projects functions with excellent customer service
Responsible for hiring, management, and evaluation of staff
including coaching and development/succession planning; drives
Works with internal and external auditors
Manages the accounting aspects of relationships with third-party
property management companies
Back up for this position is provided by the CAO, Accounting
Managers or other personnel as assigned.
Directly supervises two Accounting Managers and indirectly
oversees approximately 15 other employees. Carries out supervisory
responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and
applicable laws. Responsible for building a high performance team
through hiring, training, appraising performance, coaching, and
Expected to travel overnight to the non-home support office
(Minot, ND or Minneapolis, MN) several times per year. Other travel
may be required.

Education and/or Experience – Required Bachelor’s degree in
10+ years relevant experience
5+ years management experience
5+ years experience and advanced knowledge in residential
property management accounting software (such as Yardi, MRI,
Education and/or Experience – Preferred Public company
