IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MUST HAVE A STATE OR FEDERAL WORK AWARD TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR COMMUNITY BASED WORK STUDY (CBWS) POSITIONS. Student CBWS work eligibility is subject to change due to work award re-determinations over the summer. This means even students who were a chosen applicant for the position may be ineligible to work if they do not have a state/federal work award come Fall 2024. Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):

Project Friendship is seeking an app developer to work on an upcoming app to be utilized by Project Friendship mentors, mentees, and parents. The app is in development and the app developer will work with a professional developer as a mentor that will oversee the project and be available to answer questions as development progresses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work independently on app development with the guidance of a professional developer mentor
    --- Offer creative ideas/solutions to development and function of the app

    --- Develop and implement a plan for continuous support of the app

    --- Bring the App development into completion using systems already in places and being developed

    --- Complete necessary tasks in allotted time being committed to the development of the app

    Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)

    --- Programming experience in most or all of the following technologies: o JavaScript language

    o ReactNative mobile application framework

    o Expo development platform

    o Node Express server framework

    o RESTful API server development

    o Familiarity with SQL databases, using a database management system such as Postgres or MySQL

    --- Strong written and verbal communication skills

    --- Strong organizational and time management skills

    --- Overall interest in computer programming is desirable
