About The TeamFoundations Services is a group of SmartThings engineering focusing on providing world-class capabilities and services to our customers - the developers of the SmartThings platform. In this role you will:

• Design and improve ways in which we deploy and manage self-hosted Cassandra databases.
  
• Analyze AWS databases for recommendations to share with SmartThings teams.
  
• Review and update Python lambdas for interacting with data stores.
  
• Participate in cross-functional design discussions and code reviews.
  
• Proactively identify areas for improvements from cost, performance, and ease of use perspectives across our services.
  
• Build trust with your colleagues by consistently delivering on commitments and fostering positive relationships.
  
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or Computer Science or similar experience
    
  • 3+ years of professional experience in delivering production systems.
    
  • Experience administering cloud-based infrastructure.
    
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.
    
  • Strong development skills.
    
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability work well in a diverse, team-focused environment.
    
  • A willingness to learn new languages and technologies if needed.
    
  • Confidently make informed, data-driven choices in a fast paced environment without full knowledge and an understanding of risk mitigation.
    
  • Experience with source control such as Git.
    
  • Desire to collaboratively learn and grow with colleagues.

    • Experience with Cassandra or other NoSQL technologies.
      
    • Experience in either Java or Python.
      
    • Experience analyzing JVM performance.
      
    • AWS knowledge in RDS, Elasticache, and DynamoDB.

        Compensation for this role for a candidate based in California is expected to be between $137,540 and $199,433, for a candidate based in Colorado is expected to be between $108,000 and $156,600, for a candidate based in Washington is expected to be between $121,321 and $175,915 and for a candidate in NYC is expected to be between $126,653 and $183,648, but may be higher or lower in other States due to geographic differentials in the labor market.
