Full Stack Software Developer

Company: Bootstrappers.mn
Location: Minneapolis
Posted on: January 16, 2022

Job Description:

We are launching a company focused on enterprise SaaS and looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our growing organization. We're in stealth mode but we have successfully built and exited multiple companies. Now we're doing something different than the assembly line that is a typical software company.

It's a startup, but it's not. It's funded. We are hiring an intentionally small team to build focused software with industry experts. And we are able to offer an equity stake in what we're doing. We just want to enjoy our work and grow with people we like, who believe in the same things as us.

  • We believe there are lots of different ways to develop meaningful and impactful products.
  • We believe smaller teams can make better tools.
  • We believe building amazing products requires a different way of thinking and working.
  • We believe in pushing to always do better, while remembering to celebrate the victor

We are building a backend, a frontend, and an app in Swift. We have strong technical foundations, but need and want help from people stronger in certain domains than us. We are focused on building efficient technologies that are scalable and secure.

    Roles, Goals & Expectations

Our only real job requirement is that our developer needs to be adventurous and capable of shipping products. You should enjoy experimenting with the latest options and architectures and be able to sift between all the proprietary and open source frameworks and get the one that we'll all enjoy working with.

We build enterprise software so all of our software needs to work with an identity provider and our back-end developed with an API-first mindset (we do plan on having it be a public API). With the endpoints in GraphQL if there's anything missing we can just build a new endpoint quickly. We'll also want to document all third party libraries, open source tools, and data processors for compliance purposes.

Want to build services in Java or PHP or Go or heaven forbid, LISP? Cool. Provided it fulfills the contract for the API we're not super-concerned. Prefer to host those endpoints in Google or Microsoft or Amazon? OK, works for us, especially if you already have a way you like to get the code onto those services in a programmatic fashion.

    Ready to do something different?

Tired of meetings and politics and people that don't really understand what we do and just want to push out features without concern about our craft? Us too. We're looking for developers who are sick of the endless meetings, weaponization of Agile, and who want to build cool products. Instead:
    • We need to trust you. But we will push.
    • We are focused on working efficient hours; not more hours.
    • We are focused on outcomes and quality; not quantity.
    • We don't want to build task lists. We want to build results.
    • We want people to feel like the critical part of what we're building that they are.
    • We want to work with people we can feel a comradery with while we work on exciting projects.
    • We are not interested in building empires and politics. Instead, let's build amazing products.
    • We don't care where you work from, provided that you are equipped to do the work.
    • We want our culture to be defined by the way we work, the work we do, and how we work as a collective team.
    • We want you to be proud of the work you do, but have time to enjoy the life you want to live.
    • We don't believe that we have all of the answers, but more that the answers can be found within and throughout our team.
    • We are not perfect, nor do we expect perfection--- What we do expect is working smart, being accountable to ourselves, and to the team. And that we can build a place we all enjoy working.

No one knows everything so we can fill gaps where needed (either by us or contractors). The most important thing is that we can all build some really cool software that actually addresses productivity needs for real human beings.

What we'll provide in return for graciously spending time with us:
      • A Solid Package: Salary, vacation time, benefits, 401, and much more.
      • Flexible Schedules: We're not just saying that, all we really care about are results.
      • Growth & Development: Actually we care about you as much as results, so we want to provide whatever we can to help everyone level up.
      • Community: We built a unique place to work where people can thrive, remotely or with us in person.
      • Opportunity, Perspectives & Exposures: We also sit on the boards of many organizations, speak at conferences, and write about technology. So we can make connections for future projects or opportunities. Come in, work from home, but we'd love to work with people we like, make them feel at home, and help grow their network.
      • Equity: We aren't a non-profit and we have a number of exits under our belt. This is a unique situation with the potential for multiple equity opportunities for the right developer.
