OVERVIEWThe University of St. Thomas invites qualified
candidates to apply to the Catering Supervisor opening within the
University's Dining Services Department. We are looking for Banquet
Captains who are ready to take the next steps in their career!

- Full Time, 12 months out of the year
- $22.00 per hour
- Work directly for the university, not a food service company
-Summary of Responsibilities: -
- The Catering Supervisor is responsible for carrying out the
details of assigned catered events on the Saint Paul & Minneapolis
Campuses as set by the Catering Manager.
- Job duties include set-up, service, and cleanup of catered
functions, supervising and training of the student staff, cleaning
and maintaining catering storage areas, ordering supplies and
inventory.
- The supervisor duties include ensuring that meals and events
held at the University run smoothly and exceed the customers
expectations.
- All food service staff are required to follow the Health
Department codes and regulations. -
- Instructing and training staff in the proper cleaning methods
and following the guidelines set by the University are important
responsibilities as food providers. - -
- This is a customer service driven position that must enjoy
working with students, staff, and clients. Coordinating staffing
for events to accommodate expectations of all clients internal and
external to the University.
- (Minneapolis) This person will also work in the Minneapolis
Dining Center to help when needed or during slow periods in
Catering. - - These duties include hiring student staff to work in
the Dining Center, serving food, and other duties that are directed
by the Production Chef.
- (St. Paul) Duties also include operation of the catering food
truck, athletic event concessions and catering events on both the
Saint Paul and Minneapolis campuses.QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of five years of food service or restaurant experience
to include at least one year of experience supervising
employees.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, the use of kitchen
equipment, basic measurements, food safety techniques, and food
service operations.
- Must be ServSafe certified or able to acquire certification
with the state of Minnesota within six months of employment.
- Must possess or be able to obtain liquor/alcohol training Tips
certification or Serve Safe Alcohol Certificate within three months
of hire.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check is a
condition of employment for this position.
- Preferred qualifications include experience working in a hotel,
restaurant, or a college/university dining services, and
supervisory experience.
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or eligible for legally required
exemption such as a medical or religious reason.Expenses towards
certifications will be covered by the University. - -This position
works a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights
and weekends. -This position may be designated Emergency Essential.
Emergency Essential employees may be expected to remain at work if
campus closes during their regular work schedule or to report to
work if the campus-closing announcement is made before their
