Job Description:
Job Purpose: To contribute to the success of our customers by
ensuring Lean principles/practices are incorporated into all
process relating to supply chain that bring about improvement to
quality, delivery, and productivity.
Job Responsibilities and Job Duties: (Percentages = priority and
approximate time focus)
Develop, implement, and maintain a roust lean supply chain that
puts the customer first by meeting their specific needs and exceeds
their expectations while controlling inventory levels.
Develop and utilize a PFEP process to standardize inventory
decisions (sizing, timing, value, etc.)
Create Kaban and Supermarket programs to reduce inventory while
improving service levels.
Develop Safety Stock/Buffer programs as appropriate to reduce lead
times and level scheduling.
Develop metric standards for supply chain that align with company
goals and drive alignment and improvements to inventory.
Work with the supply base to drive shorter cash cycles and
consignment inventories.
Develop and implement a pull system on inventory and material
management that minimizes lead times, cycle time, waste, excess and
obsolescence.
Delivery of a timely, executable production schedule for the whole
organization.
Ensure schedule meets requirements for tanks/hours/lines/mix by
team to achieve optimal productivity.
Ensure schedule is adapted to prioritize workload and order for all
departments within the organization.
Ensure materials are procured in correct quantities and with proper
lead times to support production.
Create contingency plans and recommendations to allow for slippage
for unforeseen issues while still achieving schedule
requirements.
Ensure adherence to schedule through development of schedule
attainment metrics.

Termination - Knows how to document employee performance and
construct a case leading to correct termination decisions.
Contingency Planning - Develop/Execute contingency planning through
cross training and standardizing work.
Understand and maintain a culture of "Lean action" within the
department so that we live lean better than nay organization.
Implement and maintain standards and processes that eliminate waste
throughout the department.
Apply and utilize "lean tools" to permanently implement
improvements.
Institutionalize 5-S in all aspects of the department (Sort,
Set-in-Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain.)
Qualification and Skill Requirements:
Prior Experience
This position requires more than 10 years of experience in a
successful lean supply chain environment.
Knowledge Requirement
To be effective, this position requires a demonstrated
understanding and application of Lean tools, manufacturing
aptitude. Training or working in a previous lean supply chain is a
plus.
Requires an understanding of MRP software. Requires a high level of
competence to leverage Ape's ability to innovate and create
solutions for customers. Knowledge is normally acquired through
four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or
equivalent work experience.
