The Culinary Service & Events and Catering department at the College of Saint Benedict invites applications for the full-time, benefit eligible position of Events and Catering Coordinator. Under the direction of the Events Manager and Catering Manager, the primary functions of this position are: a) Provide onsite direction and coordination for catering, concessions and event functions b) Assist in daily department operations c) Staff supervision d) Perform Catering Lead responsibilities as needed. The College of Saint Benedict (CSB) is a liberal arts college for women located in the central lakes area of Minnesota. Provide onsite direction and coordination for catering, concessions and event functions. Daily support and awareness of details regarding catering events and staffing. Serve as manager on duty for assigned events. Support and planning of internal and external events as directed. Assist in daily department operations Office support to Event Manager and Catering Manager. Distribution of service orders to Culinary Services support departments. Work with EMS Planning and Scheduling Software for planning all aspects of event details. As directed, responsible for ordering catering goods, linens and beverages. Communicate dish room support needs. Assist in catering staff scheduling. Perform duties and is responsible for the role of the Events Manager and Catering manager in their absence. Support other Culinary departments as requested. Staff Supervision Responsible to direct, monitor and assist catering and event staff members to ensure highest customer satisfaction, including on-call staff and student employees. Assist managers with hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of student employees. Perform Catering Lead Responsibilities as Needed Committed to delivering high quality customer service in an efficient manner, while being sensitive to the service needs of the entire college community. Responsible for organizing the daily delivery, set-up, serve and clean-up of catered events. In accordance to the catering standards, monitor food preparation and methods, size of portions, and garnishing and presentation of food. Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are being met. Qualifications Required: * Bachelor's degree or the completion of a Hospitality, Catering or Restaurant management program or a minimum of one year event planning, restaurant or catering experience. * Effective communication skills including oral, written and interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships. * Demonstrate effective and efficient computer skills within Microsoft Office or similar products. * Demonstrate excellent customer service, leadership and problem-solving skills. * Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, with or without assistance. * Ability to tolerate noise levels, temperature fluctuations and ability to stand for long periods of time. * Ability to complete College safety training programs including defensive driving within a one month timeframe of hire date. * Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekends. Typical hours worked between 2:00pm-11:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Schedule will adjust based on event needs and will include Sundays and Mondays as needed. Preferred * Experience working with alcohol service and bartending. * Minimum one year of supervisory experience. * Serve Safe Certification, Successful candidates will be required to complete within six months of hire. * Alcohol Training Certification, Successful candidates will be required to complete within six months of hire. * Ability to interact with the community of the College of St. Benedict as an integral part of the staff. * Project a positive image on behalf of the department and the College of Saint Benedict. * Ability to acquire an understanding of the character and mission of the College of Saint Benedict and the Culinary Commitment to Excellence. * All willingness to maintain a high level of competence.
