Mayo Clinic, a leader in medical excellence and research, is looking for a dedicated Health Unit Coordinator/Patient Care Assistant to join our Medical Surgical unit. This role is pivotal in optimizing patient care through effective administration and clinical assistance. The successful candidate will handle a variety of duties including administrative tasks and direct patient care activities under the supervision of medical staff. Coordinate and manage patient records, schedules, and communications for medical surgical units Assist with patient care tasks such as monitoring vitals, administering medication, and preparing patients for procedures Support the medical staff in the implementation of patient treatment plans Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized patient and work environment Ensure compliance with health care laws, regulations, and Mayo Clinic policies Facilitate communication between patients, family members, and medical team Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge processes Strong organizational and clerical skills Basic clinical skills Ability to multitask effectively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Computer proficiency and ability to manage electronic health records Empathy and patient care skills Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401k CPR certification required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
