Shared Medical Services is seeking a professional and reliable
Mammographer to join our team. This position is ideal for someone
that enjoys helping others! Position offers a unique variety of
duties as screening mammography services are provided to clinic,
corporate and community locations within the Twin Cities metro
area. Our services provide patients with access to screening
Mammography exams at their local medical facility with this mobile
service.
Anticipated Schedule:
- 2-3 days per week, one day may include Saturday
Responsibilities:
- Screening mammography at clinics, corporate and community
outreach locations within the Twin Cities metro area
- Team of two mammographers or one mammographer and an assistant
working together on a 26' straight truck equivalent mobile
mammography unit equipped with Hologic 3D mammography system
- Mammographers and/or assistants drive the mobile unit to the
screening locations Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved 2-year Radiologic Technology
program
- Must be registered with ARRT, American Registry of Clinical
Radiologic Technologists or Licensed to perform general
radiographic procedures
- Prefer 40 hours of training in mammography. Willing to
train
- Ability to drive or experience driving equivalent to 26'
straight truck. Willing to train
- Ability to produce quality imaging with limited
supervision
- Must be able to interact in responsible, professional and
ethical manner
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Must possess valid Class D Drivers' License. CDL NOT
REQUIRED
- Must have acceptable driving record
- Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background
check, urine drug screen and physical
- Must have critical thinking and problem-solving skills

GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK: Under the general direction of the Regional
Operations Manager with the clinical supervision of the reading
physician, performs examinations of patients and transports mobile
medical imaging equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs ordered examinations in accordance with accepted
standards of practice and protocols of the individual site reading
physician.
- Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during transport to
and from the mobile coach/facility and during the exam.
- Maintains technical competency through continued education and
participation in company sponsored training programs.
- Completes and signs the Patient Screening form and
reviews/explains the procedure to the patient.
- Transports patients to and from the mobile coach/facility.

- Provides images to the facility in the desired site
format.
- Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems.
Calls for service and notifies all pertinent Team Members.
- Transports mobile medical imaging equipment to various sites
along the mobile route in accordance with applicable DOT rules and
regulations and SMS standard operating procedures.
- If applicable, assists with the set up and tear down of
equipment in accordance with SMS and/or manufacturers'
guidelines.
- Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the mobile
coach/facility.
- Completes necessary administrative tasks. i.e.: time reports,
billing, QA, etc.
- Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient
confidentiality.
- Follows preventative maintenance guidelines and ensures proper
maintenance of all equipment. Works with vendors and Transportation
Team to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical failures.
- Cooperates with facility health care professionals and complies
with facility policies/procedures.
- Complies with all safety policies and regulations.
- Maintains current Licenses in all states in which services are
performed.
- May assist with set up of mobile coach upon arrival and pack up
prior to departure.
- Trains new Team Members as required and/or as assigned by the
supervisor and/or SMS management.
- Performs additional duties as required. POSITION
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Completion of an approved two-year Radiologic Technology
program required.
- Before April 28, 1999: Must be certified with the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or American Registry of
Clinical Radiologic Technologists or Licensed to perform general
radiographic procedures in a state AND have 40 hours of training in
mammography.
- After April 28, 1999: Must be certified with the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or American Registry of
Clinical Radiologic Technologists or Licensed to perform general
radiographic procedures in a state AND have 40 hours of training in
mammography including: training in breast anatomy and physiology,
positioning and compression, QA/QC techniques, and imaging of
patients with breast implants, AND have 25 mammography examinations
under direct supervision of an appropriate MQSA-qualified
individual.
- Must have 8 hours of training in using a mammographic modality
(e.g., digital), before beginning to use that modality
independently.
- Must perform 200 mammographic examinations over a 24-month
period.
- Must maintain continuing education according to MQSA
regulations.
- Must possess an active Permit to Practice where applicable
and/or required.
- Must possess valid driver's license with good driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is primarily performed in mobile unit with frequent trips
outside to transport patients during all seasons.
- Exposure to inclement weather from transporting patients to and
from facility to mobile unit.
- Mobile unit has artificial lighting, with some daylight from
windows or doors.
- Possible exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues from
working with patients and performing injections as required.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to drive equivalent to 26' straight truck
preferred
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must pass DOT physical and Drug/Alcohol Screening.
- Must be able to understand and comply with the applicable DOT
rules and regulations.
- Operating knowledge of Personal Computers (PC) and medical
charting systems.
- Capable of a flexible work schedule, with possibility of 10+
hour days, may include overnight, weekend and holiday shifts.
- Must be able to interact with customer personnel and SMS Team
Members in a responsible, professional and ethical manner.
- Must be able to produce high quality imaging with little
supervision.
- Must be willing and able to assist the Radiologist, Surgeon, or
other specialist, as needed.
- Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented
environment.
- Must be flexible, reliable and demonstrate sound judgment and
initiative.
- Ability to demonstrate competency in all applicable areas.
- Must be willing and able to train and assist other Team
Members.
- Must be able to safely transport patients with or without
assistance.
- Responsible for the following and adhering to TJC/SMS Quality
Standards which includes, but is not limited to: CPR,
immunizations, training (SMS and Site Specific), Infection Control,
and Invasive Procedures (if applicable). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sits, stands, and walks intermittently throughout the day.
- Climbs stairs to enter mobile unit and tractor.
- Squats or kneels and lifts objects from ground
occasionally.
- Full extension of arms above head and in front of body.
- Frequently lifts weight of up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally lifts weight of up to 48 pounds.
- Occasionally carries objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to push/pull objects with force of up to 25
pounds.
- May transfer patients weighing up to 500 pounds with a variety
of assistance from other staff or equipment.
- Must possess good balance.
