    Job Summary
    The Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis is looking for a full-time Recreation Therapist. This position will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized, goal oriented recreational and leisure programming for all residents in assigned caseload. Areas to be addressed include physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial capabilities. This position may work holidays and weekends, as needed.
    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications
    To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume/application clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below, and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.
    • Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or ability to attain certification by hire date.
    • Valid Class D Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience working in a long term care setting.
      • Experience working in a dementia/memory care unit within long term care. Additional Requirements
        • Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
        • ATuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required to employment.
        • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be conducted on finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
        • The individual selected for this position is required to attest to and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination by their first day of employment, per federal requirements.
