employee safety and health on the shop floor by applying knowledge
of laws, policies, and procedures. Identify and evaluate hazards in
work areas, processes, equipment, and work practices. Advise and
guide site operations on safety, health, and environmental matters.
Lead the Union/Management Central Safety Team Committee. This is an
on-site position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIESAssess and
report on plant-wide safety performance, conduct monthly safety
meetings for manufacturing operations and lead Central Safety Team
Committee.Develop safety training resources for supervisors,
managers, and employees; conduct safety and health training on
complex topics. Monitor and track safety training completion and
effectiveness. Conduct safety training for new employees.Act as
company representative to state and federal safety, health and
environmental agencies, MN Safety Council, and other related
professional organizations.Support the human resources team in
matters relating to workers compensation, return-to-work program,
and post-offer employment testing program.Ensure timely and
accurate completion of all compliance reports to regulatory
agencies.Systematically review job tasks through job hazard
analysis and ergonomic analysis.Perform industrial hygiene
assessments such as air sampling, noise surveys and ventilation
controls.Responsible for environmental compliance for storm water,
sanitary discharge, hazardous waste, air emissions, and emergency
response.Available for on call 24/7 for facility emergencies.Serve
as back up for Machine Maintenance Supervisor and Safety &
Facilities Manager in their absence.Understand and apply aspects of
the union labor contract when working with shop employees.EDUCATION
/ EXPERIENCE / ABILITIES4-year degree in or related to Health,
Safety, or Environment desired or related work experience.5 years
or more of work experience, such as conducting safety training,
risk assessments (JHA, Ergonomic, Hygiene), writing safety, health,
and environmental policies, procedures, reports, and conducting
accident investigations.Work experience in a union environment
desirable.CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification
preferred.
