Overview
Fairview Health Services is hiring an EHR/HIT Support Specialist,
Clinical Informaticist! The Support Specialist is knowledgeable in
the use of the electronic health record (EHR) and health
information technology (HIT) applied to clinical care and health
care business operations. They use informatics concepts, methods,
and tools to promote safe, effective, and efficient use of
technologies through their focus on end user support linking
clinical practice, technology, and information management to
improve patient care. -
This role functions as an on-demand resource for daily operational
issues with EHR/HIT and provides virtual and on-site EHR/HIT
support to a broad population of users. They give instruction,
communicates clearly through both verbal and written methods, and
efficiently solves issues on the fly. They build and handle
relationships and perform rounding and go live/implementation
support to ensure adoption and ongoing optimization of EHR/HIT use
by clinicians, staff, and leaders.
This is a hybrid position, primarily work from home with ability to
work from our Metro-based corporate and clinical sites. Are you

Responsibilities
- Apply broad knowledge of healthcare processes to handle and
communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in clinical
practice and operations while remaining passionate about the
interaction of people, processes, and technology for the complete
and optimal delivery of information needed for efficient, high
quality and safe patient care.
- Adept in PDSA (Plan Do Study Act) methods and serving as change
agents. Employ PDSA and continuous improvement tools to improve
usability through observation and participation in user acceptance
testing.
- Exhibit good communication and relationship management. Team
with informatics, IT, and operational colleagues to assess, plan,
and evaluate changes to systems and identify the impact to clinical
workflows; work closely with Tier I and Tier II support teams to
answer end user questions.
- Staff the EHR/HIT End User Support chat during hours of
operation; support tier 2 on-call rotation 24*7 365 days a year
supporting end user how-to questions; handle and resolve incidents
as assigned; prepare users for and support scheduled and
unscheduled downtime events, including upgrades and
releases.
- Acquire & maintain knowledge across multiple service lines,
domains, care settings, Epic modules, and environments. Demonstrate
detailed understanding of foundational clinical and business
workflows across operational areas.
- Ability to travel to/from M Health Fairview locations for site
visits, rounding, and other activities related to the role.
Responsible for working on-call shifts as scheduled.
Qualifications
Required
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in health care or related field from an
accredited program, informatics degree or combination of education
and experience.
Experience
- A minimum of 1 year clinical healthcare experience and/or 1
year informatics-related experience working in a health system
directly with end users.
- Customer service experience.
- Understand clinical workflows and operations, with a working
knowledge of computer systems and systems life cycle.
- Demonstrates accountability for tasks and completes work
assignments on time; multitasks and prioritizes to improve
efficiency.
- Available to work scheduled on call rotations.
- Access to reliable transportation.
Preferred
Education
- Masters or Doctoral level degree in nursing, informatics, or
operational leadership
Experience
- Epic EHR use, implementations, upgrades, and/or build
License/Certification/Registration
- Current Epic certification(s) and/or credential(s)
- Industry-level certifications such as AACN, HIMSS, Lean,
etc.
Additional Requirements:
- Acquire and/or maintain Epic certification/credentialing as
identified by manager/director within 6 months of start
date.
