Position description
The MCHS Otorhinolaryngology Department is seeking a Physician
Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing practice. The
PA/NP practice consists of Physicians and PAs / NPs that work
collaboratively to provide a complete scope of care for patients
(provider would be expected to see adult and pediatric
patients)
The provision of care includes but is not limited to initial clinic
assessments, preoperative workups, postoperative follow-ups, and
new consults from the surrounding clinics or in the hospital or
emergency room. Common ENT office based procedures. Occasional
assist in the operating room with cochlear implants. With
experience, the expectation of running an independent clinic in an
outreach location within the Mayo Clinic Health System.
Position Details:
- Assist the needs of the ENT department in clinic and hospital
settings.
- Responsible for performing hospital consults and rounding on ENT
patients
- Work in the OR for needed ENT cases including procedures of the
head and neck as well as cochlear implants.
- Advance practice provider will take call Monday-Friday 8-5
(primarily for hospital consults).
- Clinic work entails everything from new consults to ear
cleanings, and has the ability to advance into performing clinic
based procedures of the head and neck including endoscopy.
- Outreach to neighboring Health System sites once experienced.
Qualifications
Experience: One to three years experience preferred but not
required.
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and
Nurse Practitioner program. Must have current Minnesota RN license
and certification as a FNP, ACNP or ANP. Licensure must allow
provider to see the full spectrum of patients from newborn through
geriatrics.
Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current
PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota
State Board of Medical Practice.
Candidate must be eligible for DEA registration.
Possess ability to work independently/autonomously and
interdependently with other health care professionals. Have
extensive patient assessment skills using diagnostic methods and
instruments and possess ability to develop appropriate plan of
care, modifying as indicated. Possess effective communication
skills and interpersonal skills with patients, families and members
of health care team.
