Position description
Performs analyses on biological specimens, e.g. blood and urine, to
aid health care providers in the diagnosis and treatment of
patients. Participates in the operational support activities
necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.
Previous Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine experience preferred.
Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years
in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other
positions within Mayo Clinic
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science (MLS), clinical
laboratory science (CLS) or medical technology (MT) or bachelor's
plus Certificate in medical laboratory science (MLS), clinical
laboratory science (CLS), or medical technology (MT), as recognized
by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences
(NAACLS) is required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the
specified degree.
Applicants needing visa sponsorship must possess CGFNS Visa Screen
certification upon application. Holders of F1 status eligible for
post-completion OPT are NOT subject to the federal Visa Screen
requirements and are welcome to apply
Additional qualifications
Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory
instrumentation and assay systems is desirable. Must be capable of
producing accurate results under time constraints, multi-tasking,
and performing in a fast-paced and changing environment. Must
possess good communication skills and be able to work closely with
others. Must be able to accommodate scheduling adjustments,
off-shifts, holiday, on-call, and weekend work assignments.
SBB certification or previous blood bank experience desired.
