Please visit childrensMN.org .Department OverviewThe pharmacy department at Children's Minnesota is staffed by registered pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians with specialized training in pediatric pharmacy. Our inpatient pharmacists perform daily rounds with providers and are essential partners in providing state-of-the-art pediatric comprehensive medication management services, pharmacy automation, IV production and compounding services. Children's pharmacists provide medication education, consultation and specialized drug information services, as well as participating in educational and outreach programs. We provide 24-hour inpatient operations services along with 16-hour decentral pharmacist coverage. Our inpatient decentral team includes trained subspecialists in neonatal, pediatric and cardiovascular critical care, including cardiac transplant, pediatric medicine, oncology, neuroscience, emergency medicine (including Level I trauma services) and research. Our pharmacists are also essential partners in the ambulatory setting, providing pediatric pharmacy services for home infusion, retail pharmacy, oncology clinic/infusion center and hemophilia treatment center, as well as medication therapy management (MTM) within our primary and specialty care clinics. We are committed to training the next generation of pediatric pharmacy professionals through mentoring of pharmacy students and post-doctoral training in our robust residency program, which includes post-graduate year one (PGY1) and two (PGY2) residencies in pediatrics and pharmacogenomics. Position SummaryThe Pharmacy Intern's responsibilities in the Pharmacy Department depend upon the number of years of pharmacy school completed in addition to in house training requirements. A Pharmacy Intern has the following responsibilities in the Pharmacy Department upon completion of in house training for a specific task and:Once the Pharmacy Intern registration is obtained - Intravenous product preparation; unit dose cartfill; inventory management; automated, decentralized medication stocking (ADMs); outpatient prescription order entry, outpatient prescription double check/verification; and outpatient medication counseling.After 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of pharmacy school - All previous responsibilities in addition to completion of Pharmacist clinical training modules; inpatient medication double check/verification; central pharmacy process flow management; compounding; answering drug information questions; pharmacy projects; obtaining medication histories;Qualifications: Pharmacy Student qualifications:* Currently enrolled in an accredited doctor of pharmacy program * Intern registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy required after completion of the first year of the pharmacy program. If hired prior to the end of the first year of pharmacy program a Minnesota Board of Pharmacy Technician active Registration is required until pharmacy intern registration obtained.* Pharmacy technician experience or vocational school pharmacy technician certification preferred.Foreign Pharmacist Graduate requirements:* Successful pass of the Foreign Graduate Equivalency Examination and certification by the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Commission (FPGEC) along with an active Minnesota pharmacy intern registration. All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
