About the Job
A Postdoctoral Associate appointment is available immediately in the Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics at the University of Minnesota under the supervision of Dr. Seth Naeve. The Naeve Project focuses, in part, on environmental impacts on soybean seed quality and downstream effects on soybean meal and feed quality. Funding is guaranteed for 1 year and can be extended depending on grant funding.Starting salary is expected to be $53,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will participate in a variety of tasks in the lab including:

  • Gather, clean, and analyze large datasets related to environmental and management effects on soybean seed composition.
  • Collaborate with crop and climate modelers to improve the understanding of soybean grain composition-determining factors (e.g. management, environment, varieties).
  • Analyze data and collaborate on publishing results in various venues including peer-reviewed journals and educational brochures for international and domestic audiences.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of new research studies on soybean seed and soybean product quality to accelerate development of educational resources based on sound science and interpretation.
    The Postdoc will be located in the Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, MN.

    Qualifications





    Minimumum Qualifications
    Applicants should have a Ph.D. and training in crop science, agronomy, or a related field.

    The ideal candidate will have:
    • A Ph.D. and training in crop science or agronomy.
    • Proven strong analytical and writing skills.
    • Proficiency in handling large agronomic datasets, including extensive statistical knowledge and expertise to analyze them.
    • Skills in conceptualizing, developing, calibrating, and validating statistical models
    • Demonstrated knowledge of G X E X M effects on crop yield and quality.
    • Strong verbal communication skills are highly desirable as well as the ability to communicate effectively to different audiences .
    • A willingness to work with a diverse team of agronomists, animal scientists, domestic agricultural producers, and international end users.
