GENERAL PURPOSE Responsible for the leadership, management and operation of the hotel. Effectively manage the overall operation of the property to achieve overall revenue goals, financial results, guest satisfaction and positive team member experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure the development of a realistic and attainable strategic business plan that defines operational goals and profitability objectives. Coordinate capital improvement projects to maintain/upgrade quality standards and property image, and to protect assets from neglect, damage or deterioration. Conduct regular staff and employee meetings. Lead, through subordinate staff, the effective management of the Rooms, Food & Beverage and Engineering functional areas to maximize financial performance while upholding quality standards and maximizing levels of guest satisfaction. Direct the maximization of room revenue by anticipation of market shifts, development and monitoring of annual business and marketing plans, and participating in appropriate national marketing efforts. Works with sales team to ensure needs of negotiated accounts and groups are met in an organized and effective fashion. Assists and responds to guests in a positive proactive fashion, while providing the highest level of service to the guest. Sets a strong example for other associates through exemplary guest service. Works with the management team to identify opportunities for elevating service. Communicates results from guest satisfaction surveys with hotel team and addresses needs and trends that have been identified from the survey results. Manages expenses according to budgeted/forecasted guidelines to maximize hotel profitability. Adjusts expenditures according to fluctuating business needs in a timely manner. Responsible for effectively interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing hotel department heads. Addresses performance issues accordingly and takes appropriate corrective action to hold employees accountable. Motivates hotel staff by setting goals, providing ongoing feedback and rewarding/recognizing employees. Responsible for effective self/workload management and adjusting personal work schedule as dictated by business needs. Demonstrates clear and effective written and verbal communication. Promotes a productive, professional and collaborative work environment. Plays an active role in leading daily team meetings and weekly/monthly departmental/hotel meetings to ensure proper communication and planning occurs. Assists in conducting routine inspections of the hotel operation/building to maintain standards Ensures a clean and safe work environment. Participates in the hotel Manager on Duty program. OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Perform special projects and other responsibilities as they arise. Participate in task forces and committees as required. Professional appearance and attitude required. Most tasks are performed independently or in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision. Able to complete all duties with or without reasonable accomodation. SUPERVISORY DUTIES - Direct supervision of all department heads at the hotel JOB QUALIFICATIONS 10+ years of progressive hotel management experience required. Must be able to manage multiple hotel and corporate priorities in a fast paced environment. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels within and outside the organization and have the ability to effectively problem solve with all. Must possess strong leadership skills.
