We boldly go. Thermo King is hiring a Senior Battery Controls Engineer to join our team and be part of our Electrification transformation! This Senior Battery Controls Engineer will be part of a wider team helping to design electrified products in the transport refrigeration market. -This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule and will be based out of our Minneapolis, MN location. Flexible work from home options available. The successful candidate will establish the Thermo King direction for both in-house design solutions and near term purchased solutions while working with the broader engineering organization. - RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create the Battery Management architecture for the Thermo King Electrified system.
  • The specific implementation of cell, module, and pack level monitoring along with strategies for issue mitigation.
  • Design the battery cooling and heating architecture.
  • Develop and specify electrical components, sub-systems and systems for reliability, durability, performance, safety and cost.
  • Responsible and collaborate with the development of requirements, technical designs, and Validation Test Plans & Reports.
  • Apply systematic problem-solving skills to define issues, identify root causes, develop, qualify, and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Interpret, condense, and present test data/results.
  • Maintain orderly project records. Document and communicate project status as required both verbally and in written form.
  • Release engineering component prints in product life cycle management systems - Windchill, Arena Solutions, etc. -QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or relevant technical discipline) required.
    • 5+ years' experience working with battery management systems.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
    • Experience with the design and implementation of 400V or greater battery systems for vehicles or similar.
    • Simulation and modeling of battery system performance.
    • Ability to perform detailed calculations to compute and establish electrification standards and specifications.
    • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, (program manager, manufacturing, service, training, supply management, product management, sales, suppliers, etc.)
    • Strong proficiency with verbal and written communication skills, analytical problem solving, and creativity.
    • Willingness/desire to learn and grow.
    • Experience with test equipment and diagnostic equipment used with high voltage battery systems.
    • Ability to travel up to 10% including international travel. Base Compensation Range is $68,000 to $140,000. Disclaimer: This base salary range is based on US national averages.
