Northrop Grumman has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer for
Energetics Manufacturing at our Elk River, Minnesota location.
Headquartered in Plymouth, Minnesota, Northrup Grumman is a leading
innovator and producer of advanced weapons that provide the
warfighter superior battlefield capabilities. The division
specializes in creating low-cost, highly reliable and precise
munitions for artillery and mortar systems and is a world leader in
developing and producing tactical and training ammunition for
medium and large caliber weapon platforms. Armament Systems also
creates systems that protect soldiers on the battlefield and reduce
collateral damage.
The division is a leading supplier of integrated medium-caliber
weapon systems for land, air and sea platforms through its
world-renowned Bushmaster - line of automatic cannons produced at
its Mesa, Arizona facility.
Through its management of America's largest, privately owned
proving grounds, Armament Systems allows Northrup Grumman and its
customers the ability to rapidly test weapons and demilitarize them
when necessary.
Position Description:
Provide overall technical leadership for our Load, Assemble, Pack
(LAP) organization. Act as a Liaison Engineer to coordinate between
Northrup Grumman internal functional disciplines including Program
Personnel, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Test. Ensures /
reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles,
company standards, and related specifications. Create or update and
publish all necessary documentation required to support program
builds including but not limited to production procedures (SOP's,
DOP's, PPD's,), work authorization documents (TR's, SWA's) and
support of Hazard Analysis.
Additional responsibilities include support and completion of
engineering and capital projects within area of assigned
responsibility. Applies knowledge of engineering and scientific
methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and
solution of technical problems and implementation of appropriate
automation solutions.
Typical Duties:
Typical duties will include but not be limited to the
following:
Coordinate and provide Engineering interface to support program
build activity with Supply Chain, Test, Logistics, Maintenance and
LAP operations.
Provide technical disposition on non-conforming product from
internal and external sources
Provide Engineering support / design help on tooling and gages
specific to Northrup Grumman product lines.
Inform and work with Program Engineering teams on design and/or
manufacturability issues
Present Northrup Grumman technical image and act as a technical
point of contact on all assigned areas
Provide and publish proper build documentation to support assigned
programs
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the
following:
Technical understanding of mechanical mechanisms, manufacturing
processes, metal coatings, heat treatments, processing technologies
and standard assembly processes.
Accountable for the successful completion of engineering and
capital projects.
Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project customers,
both internal and external.
Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals.
Work with programs and engineering peers to schedule assigned
program work schedules.
Participate in customer meetings to resolve a variety of project
issues.
Regular status updates on program progress and internal assigned
projects.
Minimum Requirements:
BS degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Manufacturing
Engineering and 2 to 5 years of experience with manufacturing of
mechanical devices and automated systems, or master's degree plus 0
years of experience
Applicants selected may be subject to a government security
investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to
classified information. US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED.
Demonstrated experience in manufacturing and production of
mechanical components and/or systems.
Demonstrated experience in fixture design.
Demonstrated experience in product design verification, inspection,
and non-conformance handling protocols.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Experience and proficiency in working with multiple projects.
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite, including MS
Project.
Salary Range: $78,600.00 - $118,000.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
