segment of the energy industry! The Project Design Engineer -
Business Markets Position Sunnova Energy is currently searching for
a Project Design Engineer - Business Markets to be responsible for
managing development projects from beginning to end. T his
individual will work with customers, dealers, utilities, EPC firms,
equipment vendor firms, and internal stakeholders during the
project lifespan. This role will be the primary project authority
on all Business Markets engineering design project-related issues.
Project Design Engineer - Business Markets Responsibilities
- Manages the large-scale engineering project design and planning
process, including initiation, feasibility studies, design,
engineering, equipment specification, selection and procurement,
construction, commissioning, interconnection permits, and
closeout.
- Performs high level assessment and economic optimization
studies to recommend go/no-go for microgrid opportunities.
- Reviews engineering drawings/packages, final designs, and scope
of work to assess technical adequacy and select engineering
bids.
- Manages project schedule, budget and resources including
external vendors and contractors.
- Provides project metrics tracking and reports to stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
- Education required: BS degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum years of experience required:10 years or more in the
electric power industry and in managing large scale/complex
projects.
- EIT Certification (Engineering in Training)
- Extensive and current knowledge of the National Electrical Code
and commercial building codes
- Valid driver's license with a clear driving record
- Strong command of the English language Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience designing photovoltaic systems
- PMP certifications
- Professional Engineering license (P.E.) or equivalent
- Proficiency in solar + storage design software including but
not limited to: PVSyst, Helioscope, and Aurora
- NABCEP design certification Additional Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities:
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with power system engineering design, protection,
automation and control
- Experience with electrical design and distribution
construction
- Able to specify, requisition and analyze bids
- Experience with acceptance testing and commissioning of
electrical power equipment Working conditions:
- Open office environment in Houston
