Job Description:
Qualifications/Experience: High School Diploma/GED and passed
ParaPro/Para Educator testing (or 60 college credits) required. A
successful background check is required. Prefer experience working
with children and/or students with disabilities.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Needed: Patience, flexibility, love for
children, confidentiality, teamwork, self-starter, takes direction
easily, excellent communication skills, behavior management skills,
and the ability to assist students with special needs during
transportation. Exemplifies the following Five Character Traits:
compassion, respect, responsibility, self discipline and honesty.
Specific Tasks: Provide instructional/behavioral support on the bus
to special education students during the Extended School Year (ESY)
program . Some specific responsibilities include assisting the
driver with student management during transport, including
maintaining order and safe behavior of students; managing all types
of students with special needs, including students with behavior
deficits, students with physical disabilities, and
preschool–transition age students. Be on board the bus, or
assisting in loading or unloading outside, at all times while on
duty. The Bus Instructional Assistant is responsible for the safety
of students during loading and unloading. This may include meeting
students at the door of the bus and escorting them to their seat;
fastening or assisting in fastening seatbelts, car seats, or other
restraints; assisting students up and down the bus steps; or
assisting with the loading and securement of students using
wheelchairs or other adaptive equipment. The Bus Instructional
Assistant is responsible for assisting students and the bus driver
in emergencies, such as emergency evacuations. Hours Per Day: ESY
Dates June 15, 16, 17 June 22, 23, 24 June 29 & 30 Student times
are 8am-11:30am
