POSITION DESCRIPTION
Prodeo Academy, a PreK-8th grade public charter school serving the

VISION FOR POSITION
The Assistant Principal is a member of the Academy Leadership team
and is committed to closing the opportunity gap. The Assistant
Principal provides leadership to all school community members by
communicating clearly and developing effective systems. School
systems may include but are not limited to attendance, processes to
restore and build community, socio-emotional interventions, and
schoolwide initiatives that celebrate the school's values and
achievements. The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with
the Principal and has a "pulse" on the school community. The
Assistant Principal is both open to feedback and comfortable giving
feedback rooted in practice and an unwavering belief that all
members of our school community work hard and want to succeed. This
opportunity is ideal for someone energized by challenging work,
systematic and highly efficient, and able to work collaboratively
across lines of difference with an emphasis on cultural sensitivity
and inclusiveness.
POSITION FUNCTIONS
Professional Development and Support
Provides professional development to staff throughout the school
year, including summer training, that is aligned with schoolwide
initiatives
Is an expert in trauma-informed practices; can both model
trauma-informed practices with students, staff, and families and
has the skill to train staff members to use these practices
Socio-Emotional Curriculum and Instruction
Seeks out the most effective SpEd curriculum for students
Aligns instructional practices to general education teachers so
that students receive a consistent approach to learning
Schoolwide Systems
Co-leads schoolwide attendance; meets consistently with the
attendance team; develops benchmarks for intervention and support
and follows up with families who are struggling to meet the
school's high standards for attendance
Monitors implementation of Responsive Classroom with a focus on The
First Six Weeks of School
Universally screens students for socio-emotional skill gaps;
creates benchmarks and intervention plans for students and
staff
Leadership
Radiates warmth; is a positive presence when standing in front of
students, staff, and families
Speaks with leadership and confidence
Creates a safe, predictable environment for students, staff, and
families; has high expectations for all members of the school
community
Values schoolwide consistency and implementation of the most
effective practices; alongside school principal and teachers,
co-creates school's Common Picture routines, procedures, and
expectations
Data Analysis
Sets and achieves ambitious goals for students, staff, and
families
Analyzes schoolwide initiatives' efficacy by building data
management systems and reviewing them often
Identifies strengths and growth areas in a variety of data
Communication
Ensure communication from the school leadership team is aligned
Approaches teamwork with humility and offers help even when it
hasn't been asked for
Shares resources, plans, and ideas openly
Recognizes when a student, staff, or family's situation is urgent
and prioritizes accordingly
Checks and responds to email and phone messages within 24 business
hours
Speaks kindly of others at all times
Stays solutions-orientated when faced with complex challenges
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS, DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
General Requirements
Education required: BA/BS degree
Certification/Licensure required: Current Minnesota teaching
license
Other Desired:
Principal license issued by Board of School Administrators
preferred
Record of exemplary results with students
Advanced training beyond minimum license requirement, ideally
trained in trauma-informed practices
Knowledge and application of assessment tools and data
management
Experience related to students who have experienced trauma
Experience in behavior management techniques
Knowledge & Skills
Outstanding attention to detail and willingness to get the job
done
Exceptional organizational, planning, and implementation skills
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple
stakeholders
Experience managing adults
Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial
environment
Knowledge and fluency of Google Suite
