SNAPSHOT The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing
and documenting efficient operation and maintenance of all MVTA
facilities and grounds to support operational excellence and
service delivery. This role involves performing repairs,
preventative maintenance, and ensuring a safe, well-maintained
environment for staff and the public. This position requires local
travel between MVTA locations and the flexibility for after-hour
events and on-call duties. Occasional mandatory overtime including
weekends, early starts or later shifts if needed for snow removal.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS Provide a wide range of building and property
maintenance services and repairs at various MVTA facilities.
Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of exterior grounds
ensuring the overall cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas.
Monitor equipment testing schedules and evaluate machinery
information to ensure adherence to industry standards. Resolve
customer comments and/or questions through the customer service
portal. Monitor HVAC equipment through work orders and building
automation systems to ensure proper operation. Conduct site visits
and assessments at MVTA locations, ensuring they are in good
condition and addressing additional work as needed. Evaluate
facilities operations and equipment to ensure facility safety and
security standards are upheld and in compliance with applicable
OSHA and environmental laws and regulations. Perform and document
light to medium repairs and maintenance, cleaning, ensuring safety
and security standards adherence. Evaluate and recommend equipment
and repair needs to maximize usable lifespan. Perform other duties,
as assigned. CORE COMPETENCIES & CREDENTIALS High school diploma or
GED Two (2) years of experience in a facilities
technician/maintenance position with experience in HVAC, plumbing,
electrical, landscaping, and carpentry Knowledge of OSHA, EPA,
stormwater management, life safety, and environmental laws and
regulations Ability to properly and safely operate a variety of
hand and power tools, light and heavy equipment, and building
automation systems DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES & SKILLS Associate degree
in Industrial Mechanics, Maintenance Technology, Building
Maintenance, or related field Certified Maintenance & Reliability
Professional (CMRP) Building Operator Certification Level 1
Minnesota Power Limited Technician License EPA Universal
Refrigerant Certification Heavy equipment certification Forklift
and Boom lift experience and certification Plowing and lawn/
landscape maintenance experience CDL driver’s license MVTA offers a
