Administrative Program Coordinator
General Definition of Work
Administrative Program Coordinator oversees program operations in
developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective educational
program consistent with state and federal guidelines and the
philosophy, policies and goals of the Rum River Special Education
Cooperative (RRSEC) Governing Board. Continuous supervision is
exercised over all personnel within the building. The
Administrative Program Coordinator will ensure program expectations
are met with student progress as the focus.

Essential Functions
Plans, implements and manages instructional and curriculum programs
and building scheduling.
Prepares and administers building budget; maintains building
financial dealings records and reports.
Completes performance evaluations and the development of
performance improvement plans, if needed.
Recruits, hires and terminates program staff; leads interviews.
Creates, supervises and administers student discipline; establishes
conduct guidelines.
Serves as the instructional leader in the building through various
activities.
Attends various meetings including Individualized Education
Program, RRSEC coordinator meetings, technology committee, etc.
Writes, edits and maintains the student and staff handbooks.
Oversees the day-to-day safety and operation of an efficiently
running school; oversees facility and property maintenance.
Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness,
school safety and crisis management programs.
Monitors due process implementation for compliance of rules and
regulations.
Trains and updates case managers in special education due process
expectations.
Assists in program initiatives.
Ensures data management is established, maintained and updated.
Oversees that training and professional development programs and
plans are created, implemented, monitored and improved.
Complies with state testing requirements and procedures.
Develops and oversees ESY program.
Develops student and staff schedules
Assigns staff to program or RRSEC Executive committees as
appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by RRSEC Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of child and adolescent developmental stages and
emotional disorders; general knowledge of behavior modification and
other behavioral change techniques; general knowledge of crisis
intervention techniques; skill in communicating effectively in both
oral and written forms with students, families and district
personnel; skill in motivating troubled children and adolescents to
change their problem behaviors and reduce the conflict in
relationships; ability to communicate effectively with troubled
children/adolescents and their families; ability to work closely
with program and Cooperative district staff to ensure that the
students needs are met; ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with school officials, associates,
professionals, parents, students, vendors and the general
public.
Education and Experience
Minnesota Teaching License: Emotional/Behavior Disorder required
and Director of Special Education license, Autism Spectrum Disorder
and Developmental Cognitive Delay licenses preferred. Minimum of
five years experience working with students with challenging
behavior, preferably in a separate site or self contained program
or equivalent combination of education and experience
preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of
various configurations. Ability to stand and circulate for extended
periods of time. Ability to see for purposes of reading laws and
codes, rules and policies, and other printed matter and observing
students. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal speech
levels. Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly
understand normal conversation. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to carry up to 25 pounds. Moderate to high stress levels.
Work is predominantly in school environment. Daily contact with
students, teachers, and school staff. Regular contact with parents,
community members and outside agency personnel. Hazards: Incumbent
may be exposed to contact with individuals displaying physically
aggressive, self-abusive, or socially undesirable behavior. Work
occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and
exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may require wearing of
personal protective equipment. Locations are generally moderately
noisy.
Salary based on Administrative Coordinator contract.
220 Days
