Job DescriptionPurpose of this PositionThis role is a key member of the US Finance team which supports the Transportation & Industrials Sector. The sector encompasses six labs that span across the mid-west. The successful candidate will have a general-ledger accounting background with strong problem-solving skills. The primary responsibility of the role will be to assist the controller in performing monthly accounting activities. The T&I Accountant must have the ability to partner and communicate effectively both across the finance team and cross-functionally. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Assists the controller with month end, quarter end, and year-end close, including the preparation journal entries, KPI reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.· Prepares and reconciles bank accounts, which includes investigation of transactions and recording journal entries for reconciling items.· Prepares and analyzes reports such as Work-in-Process analysis, Departmental Reporting, Headcount Analysis, Capital Expenditure Tracking, Monthly Performance Packs, and various ad-hoc reporting as needed. Prepares sales/use and property tax return reporting, payment, and submission. Prepares monthly inter-company invoicing and reconciles transactions.· Partners with shared services to resolve AR, AP, and collection issues as escalated. Examples include: open purchase order resolution, guidance on general ledger coding, on-account invoicing, and cash application exception resolution.· Maintains financial security by following internal controls and accounting procedures· Interfaces with management in various labs and departments, including sales, operations, and shared services.· Other duties as assigned. Minimum three years general ledger accounting experience. Language SkillsAbility to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and proportions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsNone Physical DemandsOffice based role with limited travel between the other Element locations. Workweek would typically consist of 45 hours, but may exceed this amount during period closings, budgeting periods or other special events.
