Responsibilities
Safety Coordinators are deeply embedded into the departments that
they support, often being viewed as a member of the department's
leadership team to assist with regulatory compliance/best practice,
injury reduction, and workforce productivity. Coordinators create,
deploy and provide decision support for employee safety policies
and procedures; support healthcare and accreditation related teams
(e.g., AAALAC, TJC, CAP, CARF); provide input into the design of
new facilities and equipment; review and assist with improvement
opportunities.
Majority of time is spent as a safety consultant and resource in
directing activities within portions of the safety program in a
customer focused environment. Participates in administrative duties
as assigned, including budget and resource allocation, and
facilitation of staff involved with safety-related projects.
Develops and facilitates implementation of creative ideas and
suggestions to improve systems, processes and service; develops and
implements new policies and procedures; develops and implements
educational programs; evaluates established procedures and
educational programs for effectiveness. Must be able to develop,
conduct, and facilitate safety audits and perform hazard
assessments, including the interpretation of results and facilitate
implementation of solutions. Able to analyze and interpret data and
participates in decisions regarding data validity and conclusions.
Must maintain strict confidentiality of information.

Qualifications
Requires Masters degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or any
Masters degree and related coursework within two years of hire.
Requires 5 years experience in occupational safety, emergency
management or related field, which includes design of independent
projects, data analysis and interpretation. Must have ability to
organize and implement procedures/techniques independently. Must
have significant technical knowledge, understanding of safety
regulations, ability to effectively communicate both verbally and
in written materials, and ability to work both independently and in
a team. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to a changing work
environment that requires upgrading of skills on a regular basis is
required. Must have established presentation and training skills,
and be capable of demonstrating and exhibiting positive customer
service skills. Must have working knowledge of PC and ability to
use routine computer software packages (word processing,
spreadsheets, and databases). Healthcare safety experience
preferred. A CSP, CIH or CEM certification is required within two
years of hire.

The ideal candidate will have:
Prior healthcare experience
Experience working with/in Occupational Safety Management System
frameworks (e.g., ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, OSHA VPP)
Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH)

Compensation Detail
$98,030 - $147,098/year; Education, experience and tenure may be
considered along with internal equity when job offers are
extended.
